Construction Industry Recognizes Excellence in Safety

The Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of the Carolinas yesterday honored over 100 members for their dedication and commitment to excellence in safety. North Carolina Commissioner of Labor, Cherie Berry and South Carolina Director of Labor Licensing and Regulation, Emily Farr addressed the ABC membership and presented over 100 Safety Training Evaluation Program (STEP) awards. The awards were presented at the ABC annual Safety and HR conference in Concord, NC.

Carolinas Contractors Honored with National Excellence Awards

The Associated Builders and Contractors of the Carolinas (ABC) announced the recipients of the nation's premier construction honors, the National Excellence In Construction (EIC) Awards.   The awards were presented at the 27th annual EIC banquet during ABC's Workforce Week '17 in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Carolinas Apprentices Take Home Bronze & Silver

The Associated Builders and Contractors of the Carolinas (ABC) announced that Bryan Eddings, Gatch Electric, Charleston, SC won the Silver Medal and Jeremy Shirley, Starr Electric, Raleigh, NC won the Bronze Medal in the Commercial Electrical Competition at the 30th annual National Craft Championships (NCC) earlier this month. Eddings and Shirley were presented with the award at ABC's Careers in Construction Awards Breakfast March 3 at the conclusion of ABC's Workforce Week '17 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. In addition to the medal, Eddings and Shirley took home a cash prize.

NC House and Senate Approve Budget Preserving State Apprenticeship Program

The Associated Builders and Contractors of the Carolinas are pleased to see funding for the State Apprenticeship Program preserved in the long debated 2015-2017 North Carolina State Budget, which was passed by the House and Senate. It will now head to Governor Pat McCrory's desk for signature.

Construction Industry Presents Eagle Awards During National Legislative Conference

The Associated Builders and Contractors of the Carolinas presented sixteen members of Congress from North and South Carolina with the prestigious "Champion of the Merit Shop" Eagle Award. These awards are given to legislators with an 80 percent or better voting record on ABC's key issues during the previous session of Congress. The awards were presented during the organization's 2015 National Legislative Conference at a special luncheon hosted by members of the Carolinas chapter.

Mobile Crane Operator Certification Now Offered at ABC

ABC Carolinas is pleased to offer NCCER Mobile Crane Operator Certifications! NCCER certifications are equipment and capacity specific; ANSI approved; and meet or exceed current ASME B30.5 consensus safety standards and OSHA 29 CFR part 1926 subpart CC operator certification requirements.

SC Rep. Mulvaney Introduces Open Competition Bill

The Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of the Carolinas today voiced its strong support for the Government Neutrality in Contracting Act.  The bill, introduced by Rep. Mulvaney (R-S.C.) and Sen. David Vitter (R-La.), will increase fair and open competition on
federal and federally funded construction projects.

Samet Wins National Safety Excellence Award

The Associated Builders and Contractors of the Carolinas (ABC) congratulated the Samet Corporation as winner of the 2014 National Safety Excellence Merit Award.   The recognition was presented to Samet at the 25th annual Excellence in Construction Awards banquet in Ft. Lauderdale, FL at the ABC National Spring meetings.
